Farewell to my old Neighbour, mentor and Friend

Created by Barry 3 years ago

To Aunty Ernestine, Barbara, Ann, Carol, Ramona, Geeta and Pamela and Basdeo's extended family, some I have never met,  my sincere condolences for your loss.

Just watching the celebration of Uncle Bal's life on livestream it brought back so many great memories for me way back to the early 1970's when we first met.

From day one of you moving in to 163 (the house next door) I met Bal in the garden across the fence and you welcomed me over and made me a part of your family almost your adopted son. Many years were spent eating Ernestine's Chicken curry and other delightful meals. Parties and gathering in both your house and ours next door was a regular weekend event for years.

Many hours were spent in the garage whilst Bal taught me carpentry and other DIY stuff. Growing up with the family were some of the best years of my life and I will cherish them forever.

To the beautiful sisters, whom I have never forgotten, I know and understand how difficult and sad it can be losing a parent, however he is now in the house of the Lord and his spirit is looking down upon you all with great admiration and pride. To Aunty Ernestine, I send my love and pray that you are keeping well through these times most difficult and challenging times in U.K.

I have attached a picture of what was once a very small fern tree both Bal and myself planted in the front of your house, look at it now hasn't it grown? That is how I remember Balchand Basdeo, tall, strong and mighty powerful with great resilience and character, Bal's legacy lives on in his children and their children and their children.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. Amen
